Why We Celebrate Ejiwe Elegba Festival - Odofin Ikate

High Chief Kehinde Hassan Elegushi, Odofin of Ikateland, described the annual Ejiwe Elegba festival as central to cultural growth in his domain.

Speaking at his Ikate country home, he said the festival promotes tradition and mutual cooperation and also preserves the indigenous customs of the people. The festival-celebrated in Ido, Ojora, Iru and Ikate-includes prayers for ancestors and the land.

He described Oba Ademola Elegushi as a progressive monarch committed to tradition and to positioning Ikate for coparative advantage. The commended the Lagos State Government for resurfacing the Ajah Lekki Expressway, urging clearing of canals in Eti-Osa to reduce flooding.

While felicitating with the people of Ikate, he called on them to develop ideas that will reposition their fatherland for future benefit.
